World Is

Throughout their existence, humans have had many diverse beliefs on the structure of the World. The Earth is held by a goddess, or three elephants, a turtle etc. This work is a fantasy, reflecting the World today. If we didn’t know the Earth was spherical and just a part of the Sollar System, maybe this is how we would see it.

I never usually do anything in big scale. So I just let it go and used a lot of splashing colors. The location next to parliament was really inspiring. Somebody even attached a sticker “”visitor of parliament”" into one of my characters so I let it stay there. Cause I would really like to see if these migrants could actually get invited into parliament.
My work is expressing those dreams people have about Europe and Western countries and how they end up exploited black market workers in Italy Spain etc. The same problem exist in U.S. as well. I don’t get this “”maahanmuuttokriittisyys”" as long as those same people are taking advantage of other people’s weak position – and their dreams for better life: all European and American agricultural businesses are based on exploitation. That’s why we have our cheap nectarines etc. in our shops. Why do we have a fair trade system for products coming from developing countries? Why European Union has human rights subcommittee under committee of foreign affairs while we should really admit that the problem exist right here, inside our borders, we do have human right violations inside our own system. Why western countries always like to go around telling everybody else how they should get things right?
I want European fair trade products!!!

Nature and a bird will trigger some memories in spectators´mind and hopefully, calm them. Birds colors were also changed, that it also would look more intense in dark gray plywood wall. Bright reds, yellows and purples are ultraviolet acrylic colors. They will glow more brightly in sun light, than normal acrylic colors.

How to survive without religion?

I wanted to think of differerent techniques for street art. I had been making fabric sculptures and lampshades inside, with a product that is also used in garden statues, so it works outside too. I wanted to try to create something with the same technique on the street. So I ended up making relief type of forms. At first, the piece had three parts, and the meaning was in the their three different coloures. But the process went on, and eventually I ended up with just one piece, and the question “How to survive without religion?” which is something I have been thinking about lately. I think the finished piece is a little bit weird, and the colour combination a little bit unpleasant, but yet there is something very physical and real in it, something that keeps bothering, something that is not right. Which qualities, I think, do work on the streets.
